Human service professionals and academicians are invited to submit workshop proposals addressing topics relevant to working with families and communities of African ancestry. We are particularly interested in proposals that are African-Centered, represent best practices and focus on solutions. Proposals should address the targeted issues from the perspectives of practice, policy, research and/or education.

Human service professionals and academicians are invited to submit workshop proposals addressing topics relevant to working with families and communities of African ancestry in one of the focus areas listed below.  We are particularly interested in proposals that are African-Centered, represent best practices and focus on solutions.  Proposals should address the targeted issues from the perspectives of practice, policy, research and/or education.

Selection Criteria

The National Association of Black Social Workers (NABSW) is a non-profit voluntary cultural and membership organization founded in May 1968 by a group of social workers and human service professionals to address the social welfare needs of Black people across the country.

Proposals will be evaluated on their relevance to the conference theme, area of focus, clarity, originality and the credentials of the presenter(s). If you presented at the last conference, your overall rating score for that presentation will also be taken into consideration.  Special attention will be given to those proposals that emphasize skill enhancement, focus on solutions, and that represent replicable program models.  Priorities will be given to NABSW members.

*All accepted workshop presenters/co-presenters are required to Pre-Register for the Annual Conference. All workshop proposals MUST be submitted using the online submission process. 


Guidelines for Submission

Prospective workshop presenters must complete the Workshop Proposal Submission process and upload a CV/resume for each presenter.
 
The proposal submission package must include:

  • Completion of Workshop Submission Online Registration Process
  • Title of Presentation (Please include a short title for the brochure 10 Words or Less)
  • Area of Focus
  • Learning Objectives
  • Target Number of Participants
  • Description of Workshop (40 words or less) that will appear in Conference Brochure
  • One-page Abstract, typed double spaced
  • Resume/CV for each presenter

Proposals must be received electronically, using the online proposal submission process by Friday, July 12, 2019.  All correspondence will be sent to the primary contact person who will be responsible for sharing information with the other presenters/panelists.
